Paper Making by Hand

Paper Making Workshop

Saturday, July 21: 10am-3pm

(Sign up deadline: July 14)

Teacher: Diana Arcadipone

Papermaking by hand is an ancient craft that is popular among artists, crafters, bookmakers, collage artists, printmakers and makers of all kinds. You will learn how to process fiber to make pulp with abaca fiber (a member of the banana plant family) and kozo fiber (for texture and variation) and form strong thin sheets suitable for a variety of uses. Some applications include window coverings, room dividers, wrapping paper, lamp shades, stationary, craft projects, décor, etc. Please bring a water-resistant apron, dish washing gloves, a towel and wear sneakers or water proof shoes,

Time will be needed after the day of class to air dry the paper, so please do not plan on bringing the paper home on the same day. We will let you know when it’s ready for pick up, or we can mail it to you.

For $15 a catered lunch by Cafe Nomad will be provided, payable on the day of class. This includes a sandwich, chips, pickle and a cookie. We will have a variety of beverages to choose from as well. Please specify your food preferences during the next step.
