Letterpress printing is a centuries old process in which individual letters are combined and printed using pressure. This results in a uniquely tactile surface of text on the page. In this hands-on workshop, you will have the chance to create unique postcards using antique type and a proofing press. A large collection of wood and metal type from the 19-20th century in a variety of sizes will be used to compose and print words, messages, and designs that can be sent in the mail. No previous printing experience is necessary.
There will be a short break for lunch. Feel free to bring your own food or visit a nearby restaurant.
