Magic Loop Mittens Class

Magic Loop Mittens Class

Wednesdays, November 6, 13 & 20

10am-12pm or 5-7pm

Sign up Deadline: October 30

Teacher: Kim Hamlin

In this class, Kim will guide you through a simple mitten pattern, using one of her favorite methods for circular knitting… magic loop! You’ll learn how to use a 29” (or longer ) circular needle to make small circumference projects like socks, mittens, hats and sleeves. No more fumbling with double pointed needles! No more finger cramps from using tiny circular needles! In our experience, magic loop is faster, neater, and greatly reduces the number of knitting needles you need to buy.

New knitters are welcome to join, but we ask that you already know how to knit, purl and cast on without assistance. In addition to the magic loop method, you will also learn how to increase/ decrease stitches, how to pick up stitches to make a thumb and most importantly, how to get the correct gauge so your mittens will fit properly!

We will be using The Worlds Simplest Mitten Pattern by Tin Can Knits, written for multiple yarn gauges and hand sizes. It’s a great pattern that you’ll return to again and again. We will be making adult size mittens, in worsted weight yarn. Tin Can Knits ( has a lot of great patterns and resources for knitters, check them out!

Materials are not included in the class fee, but you will receive 10% off supplies purchased for class.
