Get ready to play and have fun with fiber! In this two day class, you will learn the basic techniques of nuno felting to make a one of a kind, reversible scarf. The end result is a soft, yet strong, material with unique texture and shine.
Day 1: Pick from our selection of hand dyed silk fabrics and wool roving to create a color palate for your scarf. We will then spend the rest of the day making a few test swatches to see how our colors and materials work/look together. The final step of the day will be to calculate our shrinkage and begin designing our scarves.
Day 2: Will involve laying out our fibers, wetting down, rolling and shrinking and then finally… admiring our work! Once finished, we can walk downtown for dinner at Norway Brewing Company!
We will provide up to 2oz hand dyed merino wool, several pieces of hand dyed silk as well as the tools required for felting: 2 pool noodles, bubble wrap, tulle or netting, olive oil soap and a ball brause. We will have additional materials for sale in case anyone needs or wants more to complete their project. If you’d like to bring some of your own materials, please contact us first to make sure it will work! This is also what test swatches are for!
3-4 large bath towels (not your best guest towels, colors from the wool and silk may run and stain)
Small hand towel
Small plastic tub for water, like a dish tub or mop bucket.
Notebook and pencil/pen
Apron (If you’d like)

Wet felting is a physical process with a lot of standing. Wear comfy clothes, shoes and bring layers to wear.
Each day there will be a short break for lunch. You can bring your own food or visit one of the many restaurants nearby. We also have a fridge and microwave in the shop you are welcome to use.
