(Sign up deadline: July 27)
$100 (includes $25 for materials)
Capture leaf and flower images directly on paper and fabric using a process called eco printing. In this class, we will experiment with eco printing on fabric and paper. First, you will learn how to treat paper with a mordant that helps the plant pigments bind to paper. You will arrange plants on your mordanted papers and steam them to capture nature’s beauty. In the afternoon, you will take your learning from paper to fabric. Students will be provided with four mordanted pieces of fabric, including one silk scarf. You will leave with lots of prints that can be used for cards, framed pictures, or collages, as well as fabric that can be embroidered or turned into wall hangings.
Watch a video at marydelanofiberart.com to see what fun awaits you.
Students will need to scissors and a bucket of freshly cut plants.
Mary will e-mail you a few days before the class to suggest what plants to collect.
For $15 a catered lunch by Cafe Nomad will be provided, payable on the day of class. This includes a sandwich, chips, pickle and a cookie. We will have a variety of beverages to choose from as well. Please specify your food preferences during the next step.
