Learn to carve and assemble a free standing, wooden animal sculpture in this fun class. Use Don's supply of animal templates to design your critter, then trace and cut your pieces. Don will help you carve and shape your pieces so they will fit together nicely. To finish, use wood burners and paint to add fine details and bring your critter to life! All levels welcome.
Printmaking with Sarah Shepley
November 18, 2017
In this class, participants will explore the many uses of Geli plates (mono printing with out a press using soft gel “plates”) to create layered artwork on paper. Whether you want to create designs for bookmaking and collage or work on a narrative piece, this workshop offers a variety of techniques. We will use common, everyday items like lace, onion bags or wallpaper samples to explore the use of texture. We will create a "rainbow roll" for blended backgrounds and try gel mediums for transparency. You will also be able to design your own stencils and add repeatable images to your work. No previous experience is necessary to enjoy this creative process and all levels are welcome to join!

Wild Crafted Basketry with Rebecca May Verrill
In this hands-on workshop we will explore an introduction to traditional basket weaving techniques with round, wild harvested, flexible fibers. In the first hour or so of the workshop we will travel to local low-lying areas and cut our own materials for immediate wet-weave use upon returning to Fiber & Vine.
Instructor will provide some pre-harvested materials; however, the nature of this project is for the maker to establish a connection with their own materials. Wonderful organic variations in size, color, texture and form will occur!
