The Western Foothills Wrap is a light and breezy accessory, perfect for wearing (or knitting) as the temperature rises. It uses one of my all-time favorite yarns from Manos del Uruguay called Fino, a fingering weight blend of merino wool and silk. I cannot praise this yarn enough! I love the way the yarn feels in my hand as I work, and the finished fabric is just divine! If you haven’t worked with the yarn before, I highly recommend it.

In the beginning, we will meet every week to focus on the more challenging lace section. We’ll then switch to meeting every other week throughout the summer. We’ll finish with a wine tasting/show & tell celebration on August 28 from 6-8pm, for both morning and evening participants. Participants are welcome to float between morning/evening sessions depending on your schedule.

Skills needed:

Knit, purl, and casting on/off without assistance. We will be increasing using yarn overs, and decreasing with k2 together, slip-slip-knits, and centered doubled decreases. We can assist with these increasing/decreasing skills as needed, but we can’t teach how to knit/purl during this kal. Some experience un-knitting will come in handy, as we’re bound to make a few mistakes!

Materials Needed:

• 2 skeins Manos del Uruguay Fino (70% merino wool, 30% silk; 490 yards) $38 each plus 10% off

• US #5-6 (3.75-4mm) 40-48” circular needle. I’m an incredibly loose knitter, so I actually used a size 4 for my sample.
