50.00

Saturday, March 30 | 10am-2pm

(Sign up deadline: March 23)

$50 ($40 tuition + $10 for materials)

Teacher: Mary DeLano

Learn how to recycle your worn or unused clothing into heirloom wool rugs. This class will cover the history and lost art of manipulating wool fabric into sewn folk art rugs. By the end of class, students will know how to make wool beads, to use center shirring and faux shirring, and to make a caterpillar braid. Students will learn how to prepare wool for the rugs and how to dye wool using only household chemicals. Knitters will learn how to add knit strips to their rugs (but you don’t need to knit to enjoy this class). Students will leave the class with a wool trivet that can form the basis for a chair pad, table mat or rug.

Teacher will provide all supplies, except that if you want to add knit strips bring a size 7 circular needle and some scrap yarn.

For $15 a catered lunch by Cafe Nomad will be provided, payable on the day of class. This includes a sandwich, chips, pickle and a cookie. We will have a variety of beverages to choose from as well. Please specify your food preferences during the next step.
